The Jewelry Studio at Wendell August began in 2009 when craftswoman and artist, Emily Hendrie, had a vision. She saw the giftware that did not meet standard quality in the recycle bins, and by removing their flaws she knew there was an opportunity to make these pieces into something spectacular. One evening after her shift, she spotted a small accessory tray in the Rhythms pattern that was in the recycling bin. The tray had been slightly damaged during the days production and did not meet Wendell August quality standards. After removing the damaged section, she was able to make the tray into a necklace, bracelet and a pair of earrings. This after-hours discovery turned into a new endeavor for Emily and Wendell August. Using her creative talents and jewelry background, Emily started transforming leftover metal from many different collections into imaginative pieces of jewelry that had universal appeal, and selling it in our flagship store in Grove City. The first upcycled collection from Wendell August was an immediate success, and the jewelry studio was born.
