Much changed on March 6, 2010 with a historic fire which ravaged the Wendell August Flagship Store...and much stayed the same as well. Gone is the building we have called home since 1932 in Grove City but alive and well is the indomitable spirit and pride of creating and marketing our unique handmade in America gift ware and home accessories. Since 1923, Wendell August has pioneered the artistry of creating unique hand-hammered metal gift ware. Today, Grove City is still home to the nation's oldest and largest forge still in operation...we've just changed our physical address for a while.
At our new temporary store, which is located at 1605 South Center Street in Grove City(Route 208 toward the outlet mall), our friendly associates will assist you with the well over 1,000 different gift giving items created in our workshop, which is now down the road just a bit in Grove City. Our unique line of Christmas ornaments and plates, wedding gifts, baby gifts, military gifts, serving pieces, home and desk accessories and jewelry are all showcased beautifully. We also feature a hands-on hand hammering area for kids of all ages!
Personalized engraving is available in store as well, many times finished within 1 hour (see schedule below)! Our engravers will be in store the following times during the week:
- Monday - Friday: 11:30AM - 3:30 PM
- Saturday: 9:00AM - 5:00PM

Workshop tours are unavailable at this time due to the fire, but please know that although our location has changed, our process of creating the finest in hand made metal giftware has not. One-at-a-time, by hand in America still means everything to us at Wendell August Forge! Instead, our history center and simulated workshop area are available for our guests where you will see the steps by which our products are made and get a pictorial and product tour of our almost 90 year history.
